One of the nation’s first eco-theatres, Green Theatre Collective produces sustainable theatre that celebrates the actor, engages the heart and mind, and encourages a connection to the natural world.

For GTC’s second season, I directed my 100 minute adaptation of The Tempest, which used 6 actors, at two primary locations: Sylvester Manor on Shelter Island, NY and the Apple Orchard at Quail Hill Farm in Amagansett, NY.  Inclement weather forced us indoors for three performances and we adjusted the staging for our indoor locations: two different barn spaces.

The Tempest was directed to use as few props and set pieces as possible, in order to make the production mobile and sustainable.  For example, the storm was created with two pieces of rope, a drum to create thunder and Viewpoints-inspired movement work.
